PeachCare for Kids is Georgia's S-CHIP program, providing low cost health coverage for children in families with moderate income. Community Health Centers are non-profit providers of comprehensive medical care and preventative health services for medically underserved rural and urban communities throughout Georgia. Public Health Departments provide a variety of health services to Georgians such as WIC, prenatal services and care for children with disabilities. The Department of Community Health was created in 1999 to regulate health coverage for one quarter of Georgia's population, coordinate state health planning and maximizes Georgia's health care purchasing power.
